    Asia Pulp and Paper signs the New York Declaration about the Forests on the Climate Summit of the UN

    In a show of commitment to the environment, the company Asia Pulp and Paper signing the New York Declaration on Forests in Climate Summit UN to help fight climate change.

    Representatives from over 125 countries came to New York in a bid to revive international efforts to fight climate change.

    The "New York Declaration on Forests" is a commitment to international and multisectoral with an unprecedented level, the main idea of the declaration is to protect the world's forests and help fight climate change.

    Group President of Asia Pulp and Paper (APP), Teguh Ganda Wijaya, has joined a number of companies, governments and NGOs to sign the statement at an event included in the Climate Summit UN 2014.

    Peru aims to offer safe wood to more competitive markets

    In mid-2014 the National Forestry Chamber completed the design of a system so that 100% of the timber that is traded in and out of the country is guaranteed.

    With the implementation of a traceability system designed by the National Forestry Chamber, it is easy to know the origin of the wood that is offered in our country and those that come out of our borders, considered Mary Wong, Deputy CEO of GS1 Peru.

    "This system will also allow companies to enter formal increasingly competitive markets that demand guaranteeing the origin, processing and identification of wood," Wong said.

    Productivity and Sustainability: Future needs of the agriculture, forestry, and fishing activities

    It is expected that at the half of this century the world’s population reaches 9000 millions. It is also expected that the biggest growth rate is going to happen on areas that depend mostly on the agriculture industry (livestock, agriculture, fisheries and forestry) and there’s where you can find the highest levels of alimentary insecurity. The agriculture activities growth is also the most effective way of reducing poverty and guaranteeing alimentary security.

    On 2025 the 83% of world’s population, which is going to be around 8.500 million people, are going t olive in developed countries. However the capacity of the resources and technologies needed to satisfy the requirements of food and other agricultural products remains uncertain. Agriculture must face this challenge, including the rise of the production on lands that are already producing, and avoiding the exploit of lands that are barely suitable for cultivation.
